Personal History
The Knight Ladies of the 1st Armoured Regiment are all tall, yet few match Gelphist's stature. Though the 1st Armoured Regiment is a military unit, few are as combative as Gelphist. With her tousled brown hair, Gelphist carries herself with a boisterous swagger. She's perpetually shouting and laughing unrestrainedly, roaming about with her hands in her pockets, a cigarette dangling from her lips, her uniform jacket open. On a whim, she'll corner a Knight Maiden she fancies against a wall and anyone who dares to interfere gets a sound thrashing. When off duty, she'd roar about in her sports car, glass bottles in hand.
Such brazen behaviour was unparalleled within the warband and the reason was simple enough: Gelphist had never been a knight. Her commoner parents had been tailors in the capital's slums and she herself had left school early. Relying on her natural physique and love of a fight, she'd joined a gang of thugs to make her way in the underworld. In her neighbourhood lived Morian, the daughter of a streetwalker, whose beauty drew the attention of many young ruffians. Driven partly by an instinctive sense of justice, partly by a desire to pick fights and make a name for herself, Gelphist frequently stood up for Morian. Who could have foreseen that one day, that pale-faced girl who always bit her lip would be recognised as the heir by the Grand Lord, becoming the Standard-Bearer of the 1st Armoured Regiment!
To repay a debt of gratitude, as Gelphist understood it, and to secure herself a capable assistant, as Morian intended, Morian forged Gelphist's knightly lineage and recruited her into the 1st Armoured Regiment. Amongst a flock of docile, virtuous, wealthy beauties, Gelphist seemed a wolf among sheep. To her surprise, not one of these well-bred, bookish daughters of the nobility could discern her true origins.
Gangsters and thugs grow ever more brazen with size, while those tall, slender knights of the court are mostly bashful and reserved, easily manipulated. The tricks and lines long worn out on the streets are swallowed whole, without a shred of doubt, by these young ladies raised in secluded chambers. She soon borrowed money from nearly every one of her comrades. The sum she amassed not only covered her own extravagant spending but also allowed her to purchase a magnificent mansion for her parents and numerous younger siblings, hire servants and live the life of the upper classes. And astonishingly, not one of those young ladies dared to ask her to repay the debts!
Gelphist now lives as Morian's “watchdog”. In this line of work, loyalty is paramount. Since Morian propelled her to success, how could Gelphist refuse to serve? Frankly, outright violence serves little purpose in Morian's power expansion, yet Morian still seems psychologically reliant on her protection. Gelphist's sole concern is exposure, which could land her in prison. But what does a few days behind bars matter when she and her family now enjoy a life beyond their wildest dreams?!
